I would like to thank my fellow Board member for recently electing me to President of the Norfolk Crime Line for the next two years. I promise to do everything I can to continue the success that the previous Presidents have built to help grow the organization and to continue our efforts in fighting crime in the City of Norfolk.
The board is made up of volunteers of citizens and law enforcement officers who all share the common goal of doing all that we can to make Norfolk a safer place for everyone. Our goal is to raise money and fight the crime using an anonymous tip system of phone calls, web tips, and most recently added a way to text the tips. These various forms of generating leads help law enforcement to apprehend the criminals and get them off our streets. This past year, we were able to solve 133 crimes from a total of 284 various leads. Because of all of your generous donations, we were able to award $12,615 for all of these tips.
By having an anonymous system of receiving the tips, we are able to give people a way to help solve crimes that would normally not report crimes they witness for fear of retaliation. With all of the options we now have to report criminal activity, citizens are finding it much easier to help. It is very important for us to continue the efforts to make it as easy as possible for residents to continue to help us keep our city a safe place to live and work. I promise to continue efforts in every way possible in helping the Norfolk Crime Line to succeed in fighting crime.
Thanks again for showing your support and for helping us to continue our efforts to keep Norfolk safe for everyone. If you have any suggestions or would like to become more involved in our crime prevention efforts, please do not hesitate to contact one of the board members or myself. Thanks again and I look forward to serving for you.
